About this route
The first 30 kilometers uphill, not particularly steep but steady. From La Vega, the area is quite traffic-calmed. Before Santiago del Teide, fantastic views of the Teide and the almond blossom. After Santiago, entrance into Teno, very steep and with limited visibility. The road to Masca is a disaster for road bikes, then it gets better. Excellent weather in southern Teno, from El Palmar a weather divide with approaching thunderclouds. Return via TF5 means rush hour traffic with stressed drivers. A very demanding climb that day.
