Route Description

Rehau - Kautendorf - Tauper - Quellitzsee - Regnitzlosau - Nentschau - Saxon Vogtland, Posseck - Kugelreuth - Papsleithen - Ebmah - Hrainice - Pastviniy - Studänka - Hranice/Asch - Asch - Haj - Asch/Selb - Wildenau - Lauterbach - Prexhäuser - Neuhausen - Höllbachgrund - Rehau

Route Details

Starting from the train station through Rehau (Museum Centre, Art House), continuing on the bike path, then on the district road to Kautendorf. Into the Regnitz valley to Tauperlitz past Quellitzsee (recreation centre, BMX track), on a ridge with a wide view to Regnitzlosau on the bike path to Nentschau (timber-framed four-sided farmstead), into the Saxon Vogtland. On the district road via Posseck to Kugelreuth, on farm tracks via Pabstleithen to Ebmath to the pedestrian and cyclist border crossing to the Czech Republic (ID card/passport required!), continuing into Bohemian Hranice (Roßbach), from there via Pastviný (Friedersreuth) and Studänka (Thonbrunn) to the connecting road Hranice/As (Asch). On to Asch (city museum, gallery, Martin Luther statue, Jahn monument) where you can climb the Bismarck tower on the Háj (Hainberg) (further views into the Egerland). Through the town to the Asch/Selb-Wildenau border crossing, then on via Lauterbach to Prexhäuser on an idyllic route along the border to Neuhausen, then back to Rehau via the state road (beware of car traffic!) and forest tracks through the Rehau forest to the old Faßmannsreuther road in the Höllbachgrund - through the town to the station.

Note: On the section of the route on the Czech side (17 km), due to traffic regulations, no tourist signage is permitted on public roads. Please follow local signage during the tour.

Difficulty Level

A cycling tour with easy sections but also longer moderate and steeper climbs, as well as the corresponding descents. Suitable for the sportive touring cyclist, with higher demands on recreational and family cyclists.
