Vier-Flüsse-Tour Variante Arno mit Pfreimd-Stausee Umrundung

The route is a variation of the Four Rivers Tour of the Oberpfälzer Wald tourism working group.

It starts in Schwarzenfeld (intersection of Amberger Straße - Hauptstraße) and initially leads east into the Schwarzachtal valley. From Schwarzach, the route follows the bike path along the old railway line Nabburg - Schönsee. At Zangenstein, we leave the Schwarzachtal valley heading north and follow the Murachtal valley. At the former train station Niedermurach, we leave the bike path and ride on good roads through Niedermurach, Rottendorf, Enzelsberg, Pischdorf, and Trichenricht to Gleiritsch. Between Trichenricht and Gleiritsch, we reach the 'roof' of this tour, and from there, it mostly goes downhill, except for short uphill stretches. The steepness returns again at Trausnitz. When the bridge at Kaltenthal is finished, one can actually skip the detour through Trausnitz if one does not want to visit the castle. At Kaltenthal, the route reaches the Pfreimdtal valley, which it follows until Pfreimd. From Pfreimd to Schwarzenfeld, finally, the route runs in the Naab valley.

Due to the rather steep slopes, the route is not recommended for untrained cyclists.

I have also added a loop around the Pfreimd reservoir.
