068 Zipfeltour2013 Tag08 Ruhla-Erfurt

With a glance back at the Inselsberg, I leave the Thuringian Forest today and head to Erfurt. The exertions of yesterday are still quite present, and so today's stage feels more burdensome than it actually is. I completely forego any detours or sights along the way - not that I even know... what one should see in Gotha, for instance? I had already commented on the 'attractiveness' of the cycling paths in Thuringia for the biking tourist, today the route is really demanding - 8 km before Erfurt the front tire deflates. Good that I have a bike where changing a tire is not a concern, but thanks to ZEFAL puncture spray, it continues. Hats off, the stuff is good! It safely brought me and the nearly four hundred pounds to Erfurt and probably would have done so further, but since I have a rest day planned in Erfurt, the bike will still go to the workshop for a tire change. In Erfurt at the 'Kramer Bridge Festival' - there were hardly any cities on the tour here that had nothing to celebrate, but here I was worried that I would see nothing from the Kramer Bridge - justifiably! Thanks to a wonderful city guide, I was still able to take a photo (from the back). I slept right in the city at the Old Town Guesthouse by the cathedral, a nice small guesthouse that places value on a well-kept ambiance.
