From San Jose de Jachal (Argentina) to La Serena (Chile) via the Agua Negra pass.

The pass (Argentina-Chile border) is at 4,775 meters above sea level.

"The Paso de Agua Negra has been the scene of journeys and crossings since 6000 B.C., when the first hunters and gatherers — remarkable walkers — inhabited the high inter-Andean valleys during the summer, following the seasonal migration of vicuñas and guanacos, their main food source. Later, with the expansion of the Inca Empire, long transport caravans brought domesticated llamas along the Inca trail. The Spanish conquest from the 16th century marked the beginning of horseback journeys through the Paso de Agua Negra. During the 19th century, long mule caravans transporting goods, large cattle herds, and solitary travelers crossed this imposing, history-laden landscape."
