It is not only the beauty of the snowfall from December to April, without the driving routes being closed except for short periods. It is the monumentality of a landscape shaped by glaciers that covered the back of the Serra da Estrela over a long period that culminated 20,000 years ago.

From Covilhã, on the thematic Glacier Route, continue to Unhais da Serra via the Tortosendo road (EN230), circling the mountain to the streams of Alforfa and Unhais. The Montagu's harrier (Circus pygargus) accompanies our journey, appearing in all quadrants of the mountain.
