The route should be 2 days for most bikers. Starting from the Cerna dam lake, Cerna village, Iovanu lake dam, the spring of Cerna, Jiu-Cerna pass. There is an option for overnight stay, with a slight deviation from the route (1-2 km) in the Campusel area (several cabins). Then follows the entry into Retezat with a strong ascent from 1200 to 1900 m, up to the Soarbele ridge, descent into the Lapusnicul Mare valley, Gura Apei lake dam. One climbs from 1100 m in the Baicu mountains (Tarcu massif) up to the Iepei saddle (1720 m), then descends alongside the Corciova sheepfold down to Poiana Marului.
