The cycle path around Lake Maggiore exists only in parts; often the road must be used. And yet it is fun to ride a bike around the lake embedded in high mountains. In German, it is called "Langensee", in Italian "Lago di Maggiore" and the Romans called it "Lacus Verbanus". It is the second largest lake of the northern Italian lakes. It is fed by "Ticino", "Vercasca" and "Maggia". At the lake, there is almost a tropical climate, but May and October are among the rainiest months, as can be seen in some pictures (we were there in May). Culinarily, one is fully catered for. If you search for the hidden grottos, you experience shining moments of simplicity and still have full enjoyment. Culturally, the Romans left a lot behind. In the Middle Ages, many churches and monasteries were built. From the Romanesque period to the present architectural style, everything is represented. Many cities experienced positive developments in the 17th and 18th centuries. During this time, many palaces and villas were built.
