The Fairplay route is made up of several existing routes and will become the longest MTB route in the Vienna Woods, where, as the name suggests, fairplay, in this case biker fairplay, is the focus.

Fairplay - for people and nature This is exactly the factor of enjoyment that Wienerwald Tourismus and Bundesforste want to convey to the residents and guests of the region with the new Fairplay route. But without the recreation of people coming at the expense of the animal and plant world, as Bundesforste CEO Thomas Uher explains. "The Vienna Woods is a unique recreational area and a unique ecosystem. The demands of nature and society are easy to reconcile – provided people adhere to the rules of fairplay." With this, Uher refers to the so-called "biker fairplay" – rules of conduct for mountain bikers in the forest. These refer, among other things, to the road traffic regulations, which also apply in the forest. For example, hikers may only be overtaken at walking pace.

In addition, certain times must be observed, as cycling in the forest is only permitted from May to August between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm. The most important guideline for fair bikers is: It is not allowed to leave the marked mountain bike routes!

Thomas Uher, himself a mountain biker, does not see these rules as a restriction, but as a "feel-good guarantee." Because: "Those who follow fairplay can enjoy wonderful bike tours in the Vienna Woods – with the pleasant feeling that nature and wildlife are not disturbed."
