Henningsdorf-Potsdam

Once you arrive at the regional train station in Hennigsdorf, head initially to the road/plaza in front of the station and then immediately to the left through the tunnel that passes under the tracks. At the end of the short tunnel, turn right while staying parallel to the tracks and continue straight through the main road (still straight!) towards the port of Hennigsdorf (Stadthafen Hennigsdorf). At the sign Hafenstraße 20/20a (before the port entrance) turn right and bike along the beautiful Via Berliner-Mauer-Weg away from traffic. First, you will arrive at the Bombardier industrial area and pass the old industrial site (moderately nice, sometimes an industrial dump), but after 1.5 km you are back in nature. After about 5 km, you will have the opportunity to refresh yourself at a trattoria near Niederneuendorf, about 100 m from the bike path. Here you will also find an interesting memorial (the control tower of the Berlin Wall). Keep biking on the bike path toward Spandau. Here you will see barges, barges, and also cruise ships docked. Bike along the Havel following the signage for about 250 meters, then the signage indicates right through the park to the first intersection. From here you need to bike about 2.5 km on the roads of Spandau. The signage is very good. You might be tempted to reach the river again, but around you have only dead-end streets. Here the river Havel winds in numerous bends and you can not reach the water! You will then reach the last big intersection (B5, 4 lanes) with an imposing access bridge; cross the B5 and continue straight, passing Weinmeister to reach a beautiful park along the Havel. You are in a wonderful landscape. Bike with a view of the Havel and enter Gatow. Here continue to bike along the lake (do not enter the inhabited areas) toward Kladow, which is indicated from Spandau. Reach Kladow and the ferries to Lake Wannsee. Here you will find nice trattorias right next to the ferry dock, as well as a splendid view. Continue following the bike path and pass the Sacrow castle heading to Krampnitz. From here continue to Potsdam and return to the hotel.
