BCB. Morciencuentros 5. Espinosa de los Monteros-Polientes

Stage 5

Day 10 of July (Thursday)

.You need to rewind the movie a bit; exit the village via C 6318 marked as Reinosa and Santelices and retrace our steps to Hornillayuso. There, we take BU 562 towards Villarcayo. We will cross the Nela and exit onto the national road CL 629 to cross Villarcayo and reach Incinillas, where we turn right towards Manzanedo.

.We turn right to enter the Manzanedo valley towards Rio Seco. Soon we will pass the ruins of the eponymous monastery on the right. We continue a little further and there is a small road descending towards the Ebro on the left; there you can bathe.

.At the next fork, we go right towards Soncillo. Below Landraves is the gorge la Palanca. The next village, Hoz, is very nice; next to the river Trema, its houses have these beautiful balconies in the typical style of the north.

.We're already touching on climbing a couple of kilometers, and the first ramp is tough, but then it gets smoother. From there you can see some quite large caves. Up there are some really nice views; does it smell of the sea, doesn't it?

.We go down to an intersection and turn left and Torres de Areba. We already have a stretch of 5 km that is quite demanding. Finally, we enter a very nice beech forest with its quiet shade; a cathedral of nature.

.Be VERY careful when exiting to the national road N623 up there because we have to cross the two lanes towards Burgos and visibility is low.

.We go up a little more and during the descent take the first exit on the right, CA274 towards Rurrero. We are already enjoying almost 20 km of descent; a well-made road with zero traffic.

.Down, at the roundabout, we turn right for the last 3 km to Polientes; the campsite is before the entrance to the village.
