Chiemsee

Alluring variation of a generous loop around Chiemsee with casually sprinkled mountain classification essences.

Chiemsee always has something for everyone. This region is not only a true eldorado for every leisure cyclist due to its wonderful scenery. Given the enormous versatility of the terrain, there are countless ways to ride around and explore the "Bavarian Sea" - usually more than what one can manage in a single season.

The variation presented here uses as a base the route plan of the classic Chiemsee loop and stretches far to the south up to Reit im Winkl, before from Kössen the Achental is taken for the return path. This has the pleasant side effect that, in addition to the Maserpass, one can also tackle the smaller Kössen "brother". Although the two certainly do not belong to the most difficult "honor category", they are a nice and welcome unit on the training plan (totaling about 6 km in length, 4% - 10% gradient). This way, adding elevation meters can actually be quite fun!

Due to the limited selection of alternative routes in the immediate vicinity of Chiemsee, one unfortunately has to "taste some exhaust fumes" on one section or another of this tour. But wherever possible, we venture left or right into the bushes and flee from the unwanted metal columns. Promise!

In return, we get a large loop around Chiemsee offered - in every respect!
