This is the first day of a 38 day North American transcontinental bicycle ride I will make in January and February of 2015. Almost 40 miles/a little more than 60 kilometers from dipping the tire in the Atlantic Ocean at Atlantic Beach, Florida then through the urban hell (including a major freeway bridge) of Jacksonville. The last 12 or so miles/20 kilometers of the day are on the paved Jacksonville-Baldwin Rail Trail. Miles Traveled: 38.6 Miles Remaining: 2,790.4 % of Trip Completed: 1.4% Lodging: Motel
