Herne - Gelsenkirchen - Zeche Zollverein3-7-10-Herne

This circular route was ridden by two seniors on e-bikes. However, it could also have been done on a regular touring bike. The route mostly followed old railway trails or alongside the Rhine-Herne Canal. There were no significant slopes except for the ascents or descents onto the railway tracks (generally elevated). Right along the route were the zoo of Gelsenkirchen (Zoom) and the Zollverein 3/7/10 mine with the Phänomenia (museum of senses). Very interesting for children and teenagers, as well as young-at-heart adults. (Due to the storm during Pentecost 2014 in this area, two sections were not passable (fallen trees). A detour was signposted! (At Hiesler by the canal and at Schonnebeck). There, the distance was extended compared to the planning.
