49 - Il sentiero di Matuckar

The Matuckar trail is a flat path, especially suitable for families. It is 12 km long and crosses the Zadlog plain (zadloška ravnina), rich in farms and pastures. To complete the circular route at a moderate speed, about an hour and a half is sufficient.

From the center of Črni Vrh, continue towards Zadlog. After 400 m, you will reach the Pr Mark farm, the starting point of the route with related signage. Then proceed towards Zadlog. After a short climb, you will reach the Zadlog plain. Continue towards Hudi kot, Trebče, and Podtisov vrh. Here is the monument to Frančišek Lampe. Keep cycling along the route and you will arrive at the karst lake “Štefkove rupe”. The trail continues through some hamlets of Zadlog and ends in an old quarry, where tectonic striations caused by the displacement and sliding of two dolomite rock units are clearly visible.
