About this route
The first kilometers are asphalt on route 9. 10 km from Humahuaca there is a steep climb, followed by a false flat up to the turnoff for Iruya. There are two paths that later converge (I took the second one, the one with the red house). There are more detours but everything is very well marked. The road is dirt in good condition with some stones.
Upon reaching the Abra del Cóndor (4,000 m), a steep descent begins along a 21 km ledge down to Iruya (2,800 m).
