Rhön: Panoramatour bei Oberelsbach

An alternative panoramic tour over the Hohe RhönIn the Hochrhön area, between Bischofsheim (Oberweißenbrunn) and Fladungen (eastern section supplemented*, remaining SW part see panoramic tour at Bischofsheim), for mountain enthusiasts or those who don’t mind pushing the bike for a few meters, the alternative route offers an incomparably beautiful panoramic route through the Lange Rhön nature reserve, an “open landscape” created by clearing in the Middle Ages. It now hosts not only several raised bogs but is also a habitat and retreat for rare animals and plants. Not least for this reason, the Rhön was awarded the designation “Biosphere Reserve.” (The alternative route is not part of the quality long-distance cycle path) *Converted into a circular tour from Oberelsbach, i.e., sections from Oberelsbach to the junction between Miltenberg and Stirnberg as well as from Fladungen to Oberelsbach were added and do not count as part of the 'Panoramic Tour' according to bikemap.net/route 429827. Ride the tour clockwise.The ascent to the Lange Rhön is alternatively possibly more favorable via Ginolfs (only district road and less forest). However, in that case, the ascent to Lange Rhön would be identical to'Rt.23km_Oberelsbach-Lange Rhön'.
