Caminho do Anhaia (BR277 - Morrets)

Although Morretes is set as the starting point, I don’t suggest cyclists do the Ainhaia in that direction.

It can be a bit tricky for cyclists to find the start of the trail on BR 277 on their own, so I’ll describe the entrance.

After passing the priest’s viaduct on the 277, reduce your speed and start watching the left side (heading Curitiba to coast) of the road. After 2 km there’s a small entrance to a dirt road beside a little house, which is a church. This entrance is just a bit past some white barriers that hold back a slope on the right side of the road.

Cross the highway, let out some tire pressure, and enjoy a descent with tight curves, large stones on the 'surface', and 360º of lush Atlantic rainforest. At the end of the descent you’ll come to a fork. To the left there’s nothing but some Petrobras facilities and a river with pristine waters, great for a swim.

Following the path on the right leads you toward Morretes, skirting the river which has excellent natural pools. I recommend you don’t enter the river too far past the fork, as the further you go, the more houses and consequently human waste there will be.

You can’t get lost, except at a second fork between the road and a bridge to the left. Take the bridge; the path will lead straight to the Shell station at the south entrance of Morretes.
