La Cârciumă

From Radna station, we head to the meeting point at the monastery, where those arriving by car will park. We will pedal along the European road E68 westward (towards Arad) until the turnoff to Cladova, and then continue on asphalt all the way to the village. It's about 8 km from the station to this point. We continue on the forest road through the Cladova Valley (Cladova Mare) for about 12 km northwards, reaching the main ridge of the Zărand Mountains. According to the tourist map, we follow the yellow cross mark until we reach the red stripe mark corresponding to the ridge path. Going eastwards, we reach the Cârciuma (or Crâşma) peak at 501 m altitude, the farthest point of the route. From here, we head south, over the Chicioara peak, until we find the yellow dot mark which will lead us downhill towards the Cladoviţa valley (Cladova Mică). The more challenging orientation section is about 5 km between the peak and the valley floor. Then, we descend another 10 km on the forest road until we hit the asphalt again, and after another 7 km, we arrive back at Radna station. In total, it's about 42 kilometers. Those wishing to shorten the route can drive to Cladova (which would be about 14 km shorter). The route is easy, following forest roads and the ridge path, and a bit more difficult at the ridge exit. Also, caution is necessary on the descents. On the forest roads, there may be mud in places where timber has been hauled. Otherwise, there is gravel or a leaf layer.
