Immerse yourself for a whole day in the nature of the Probstei region. Experience its diversity by bike. Asphalt, cars, everyday life; leave it all behind. Our nature route takes you to the quietest and most pristine spots in the region. It also shows you which rare and specially protected animals and plants have found their habitat here. Beyond the beach: the Marine Biological Station in the Laboe Nature Experience Area, located right at the start of the route, offers a fascinating insight into the underwater world of the Baltic Sea. The Bottsand Nature Reserve is home to the spiny toad and the little tern. Also, the Barsbeker See Nature Reserve, a former coastal lake with adjacent salt meadows, offers a unique bird and plant world. The Wendtorf Nature Experience Area on the outer Kiel Fjord is also worth a detour. Or the Schönberg Nature Trail, stretching just a few kilometers further east; there is so much to discover. The nature route can also be cycled in parts. Those who want to cycle the entire 60.3 km will be led via Wendtorf and the Baltic Sea Coastal Cycle Route down to the Selenter See. The return route, through the interior of the Probstei, has no major climbs and is well signposted.
