Immerse yourself for a whole day in the nature of the Probstei. Experience its diversity by bike. Asphalt, cars, everyday life; leave it all behind. Our nature route takes you to the quietest and most pristine spots of the region. And shows you which rare and particularly protected animals and plants have found their habitat here.

Also beyond the beach: The Marine Biological Station in the Naturerlebnisraum Laboe, located directly at the starting point of the route, provides a fascinating insight into the underwater world of the Baltic Sea. The Bottsand Nature Reserve is home to the natterjack toad and the little tern. And the Barsbeker See Nature Reserve, a former coastal lake with adjoining salt meadows, also offers a unique world of birds and plants. Worth a detour is, of course, the Naturerlebnisraum Wendtorf on the outer Kiel Fjord. Or the Schönberg nature trail, which extends only a few kilometres further east; there is so much to discover. The nature route can also be cycled in parts. Those who want to cycle the entire 60.3 km will be led via Wendtorf and the Baltic Sea coastal cycle path down to the Selenter See. The return route, through the interior of the Probstei, also has no major climbs and is well signposted.
