Von Rysum nach Greetsiel
A cycling route starting in Hinte, Lower Saxony, Germany.
Overview
About this route
From Rysum to Greetsiel
The tour starts in Rysum. The church in the center of Rysum is worth a visit first. It houses one of the oldest playable organs in Europe. Furthermore, Rysum is one of the most beautiful villages in the region, state winner of the competition "Our village should be more beautiful". Right next to the church is the mill, which was rebuilt by the intact village community. Here you can not only drink the delicious East Frisian tea, but even spend the night with small groups. The tour continues along the "Gasthof im Gulfhof" and the traditional inn at the market further into the hill village of Loquard, an old chieftain's seat. The core of Loquard has been completely "village-renewed" and offers many idyllic spots to linger. Then it goes past the natural monument "Appeltuun" towards Campen. Here, a visit to the agricultural museum and the Campen lighthouse is worthwhile. The steel structure of the lighthouse is breathtaking and somewhat resembles the Eiffel Tower in Paris. After 320 steps, you reach the top of the lighthouse and enjoy the beautiful view. After a break, it continues to Upleward at the dike to the dry beach. Then the tour continues to Hamswehrum. From Hamswehrum it is just a stone's throw to Groothusen. Here, a visit to the mighty church is worthwhile. Through the idyllic village center, it continues along the impressive Osterburg to Manslagt. As in almost every village, there is also an information board here with everything worth knowing. From Manslagt, it then goes to Pilsum, the village of music. The large brick cross church can be seen from afar. It is also worth visiting the church here. From Pilsum, you go to the dike to Diekskiel and then along the dike to the smallest but probably most famous lighthouse in Germany, the Pilsum lighthouse. Passing by the Wadden Sea National Park, you go through the bird protection area to Greetsiel. This idyllic fishing village invites you to end the day with a cozy evening.
