Lake District 5. Etappe Junin de los Andes - Lago Tromen

The night was quite loud, it is the weekend and there are many young people out and about. But the nightly storm has passed and it promises to be a beautiful day. So I set off cycling and it rolls fantastically. Shortly after Junin de los Andes, I leave Route 40 and traffic noticeably decreases. Through gentle hilly terrain, I climb leisurely uphill and soon the Lanin volcano comes into view, which I am steadily approaching. 15 km before the Chilean border, the pavement ends and the gravel road takes over, but the day's destination is not far. The campsite is just before the pass and a friendly elderly lady running a small convenience store even has a Quilmes chilled in the mountain stream for me, and I soon feel relief. There are some trekkers here who want to climb Lanin, but you need to plan for 2 days and definitely have a guide with you. I take a short walk to the nearby Lago Tromen.
