Lake District 14. Etappe Frutillar - Puerto Varas

In the morning, the rain stopped and nothing stands in the way of continuing the journey. Along the coastal road, I head south, again facing headwinds and quite a few ups and downs. At noon, I rest in Punta Llanquihue; I will have to cover the remaining kilometers on Ruta 5, whether I like it or not. The very lively Puerto Varas lies right on the lake, and here too the view of the mighty Osorno volcano dominates. Although it is not holiday season, finding accommodation is quite difficult, and all campsites are far out of town. Eventually, I find a simple hostel not far from the center. At the tourist office, I book the passage through the lake district to Bariloche; the friendly girl is very helpful, but at a price of 100 US dollars, one can expect that. In the evening, I treat myself to a cozy restaurant by the lake with Chilean delicacies, because I won’t have the chance to do that the next two days off the beaten path, and then I will be back in Argentina.
