Multi day, long grind big circle route around southern Vancouver Island.
Options: Victoria to Sooke via the Galloping Goose trail (abandoned rail like converted to bike path).
Sooke to Renfrew is along Hwy 14. It is a quiet highway but narrow so caution is advised.
Renfrew to Cowichan is along a mostly paved logging road. There is an 8km unpaved stretch. The route can be shortened by not taking the circle around the lake and riding directly to the town of Lake Cowichan. This will cut out a big stretch of unpaved logging roads and many long climbs.
Option: Lake Cowichan to Mill Bay along the TransCanada Trail (abandoned rail line converted to bike path).
Mill Bay Ferry to Saanich peninsula. Lochside bike path back to Victoria.
Recommended overnight in Port Renfrew at Soule Creek Lodge. Second overnight at Cowichan River wilderness lodge.
