The route starts close to the youth hostel in Kaprun. (there are a number of cycle shops in Kaprun if you wish to hire bikes), follow the path by the river, and make your way through the former railway tunnel under Kapruns chuch. Follow the route across the road, by the fire station. To your right you will see Kaprun chuch, to your left is the new Tauern-spa-world-Kaprun due to open in December 2009.
The routes well signed and follow the route to Bruck, for your second castle. From Bruck follow the signs for Zell am See, turning right to take the lake side route. With a diversion from the lake path to take in your third castle. Look out for the naked lady in the garden!
You can extend your route up to Maishofen to find another castle, then to Zell am See town hall was a former castle also making 5 castles. Then follow the lakeside route, follow the railway line then turn right along a tree lined route. Look out for the sign off to the right along a designated route, which takes you close past the airport which is owned by the Porche family of of car fame. By the road adjacent to the airport turn right then go staright on over a wooden bridge ( bar on the right for a light refreshment), immediately after the bridge turn right then foww your orginal route back to Kaprun.
From December 2010 you will be able to take advantage of the Tauern-Spa-World-Kaprun, for a swim and a suana, great for those aching muscle
Zell am See town hall former castle, worth the walk through a pretty market town. Watch out for the cycle exclusion zone on the lake front and in the town centre.

Extend your cycle route up to to Maria Alm, great church and plenty of places to eat, downhill nearly all the way, back to Kaprun
