Furkelsattel

Start from Sexten by car up to the entrance of the Pragser Valley. On the bike path towards Bruneck, then in Mitterolang towards the Furkelsattel. Via Untermühlbach on a side road that merges again into the Furkelpass road, shortly after to the valley station of the Lorenzibahn cable car to Kronplatz, straight over the parking lot and further down the valley along the Furkelbach towards Bad Bergfall.

Shortly before Bad Bergfall, turn right back onto the Furkelpass road and ascend to the pass height (1759 m). On the other side of the pass, descend briefly, then turn left onto a dirt road, pass under the lift, and continue descending towards St. Vigil. Turn towards Fojedöra and ascend increasingly steeply on the gravel road through the lonely valley in the forest. The steepness rapidly gains altitude but also requires considerable strength until the path above approx. 2000 m becomes so steep that hardly anyone can stay in the saddle. So about 30 minutes of pushing the bike up to the Kreuzpass (2283 m). Up there, a well-deserved rest and the enjoyment of the beautiful view await.

From the Kreuzjoch, a wonderful, flat trail (No. 24) leads across to the Lärchental (Larch Valley). In some exposed sections, caution is required (risk of falling); after entering the Lärchental, below the Grünwaldjoch, the beautiful flat section ends, and one turns left steeply, following path No. 25 to Pragser Wildsee (Lake Braies). The first approx. 150 m of elevation gain are very steep; those who do not want to damage the terrain or are not technically skilled should rather push.

Afterwards, the trail flattens again and becomes quite rideable; crossing a large scree field adds a bit of a 'desert feeling' and loosens up the riding pleasure somewhat before reaching the green valley floor on a lovely meadow trail near the Alte Kaser (1751 m).

From here, a riding trail begins again, passing the Grünwaldalm (1590 m), leading to the beautifully situated Pragser Wildsee.

Along the lake shore to the Hotel Pragser Wildsee, after crossing a bridge immediately turn left onto a partly rooty forest trail descending valleywards. This path gradually improves and widens, merging into a dirt road on which you continue descending the valley. You reach the asphalt road leading to Schmieden, returning to the starting point.
