We started in Sant' Erasmo, however the lowest point is at Pioraco, so you may wish to start there. To get to Sant' Erasmo head towards Camerino on the SP256, pass the turn-off to the town center. Shortly after that there is a junction towards either Muccia or Serravalle di Chienti/Ospedale. Take Ospedale road. The turn-off for Sant'Erasmo is shortly after that on the right.
The ride heads south to begin with and starts with a climb through thickly forested hills until you drop to the SS77. You are only on this major road for about 200 meters before turning off to the village of Bavareto. You then slowly start the more demanding climb up to the Piani di Montelago. This is an interesting high plain - a bit like Casteluccio without the lentils. There is a restaurant up just off the road, should you need refreshment.
You then drop down steeply to Sorti and there is a gentler downhill to Sefro and on to Pioraco. Pioraco is known for its long history of papermaking - since at least 1346 (it is close to Fabriano) and has a museum on the subject.
Shortly after Pioraco you climb up to wind your way back to Sant'Erasmo.
