About this route
Leaving the car in Villarcayo, where there is a very large park and a river beach, you need to take the BU 561 towards Santelices. Puentedey is 12 km to the right, leaving the main road there. You can also swim there. You have to pass under the old bridge of the Santander Mediterranean Railway lines towards Ahedo de Linares. There you leave the village and after 500m turn left towards Ojo Guareña. There is a steep but short climb and up top a beautiful view. Upon reaching the next intersection you can climb to Ojo Guareña or go directly to Cornejo. From there the road runs alongside the Trema river back to Villarcayo again.
