Tour de Carinthia 

Over Hochrindel and up to Buggl in Bach In one of Austria's most beautiful regions, in central Carinthia around the third largest Carinthian lake, Ossiachersee, and in the region of the Nockberge mountains, under the patronage of the Carinthian cycling idol, Paco (Peter) Wrolich, the fifth Tour de Carinthia takes place from Saturday, May 21 to Thursday, May 26, 2016. The six-day amateur stage race, approximately 400 kilometers and about 8,000 meters of elevation gain, organized in the style of the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia, is intended for dedicated and ambitious road cyclists, men and women, who want to compete together on "flatter" stages, mountain finishes, mountain passes, as well as an individual and a mountain time trial. Daily timekeeping and determination of daily winners in various categories ultimately decide the overall winners. The race event is embedded in an attractive supporting program consisting of tourist offerings, musical events, daily award ceremonies and a pasta party, making the week a vacation experience for the whole family in the Alpe-Adria region of Austria, Italy, and Slovenia. The start and finish of the six stages is Ossiach at Ossiachersee or a nearby municipality for the mountain time trial. Support vehicles, motorcycle marshals, sweep cars, service and rescue vehicles accompany the riders daily.
