Vuelta a Urkiola

A classic loop around Urkiola where we pass by the most representative mountains in the area, highlighting <strong>Anboto</strong>, the highest peak at 1331m. Departing from <strong>Atxondo</strong>, we set course for the quarries of <strong>Atxarte</strong>, passing by Untxilatz while enjoying a spectacular landscape. The ascent continues until <strong>Txakurzulo</strong> where we briefly take the road to the sanctuary of Urkiola.<br /><br />From there we follow the trail passing by the <strong>campas de Pol Pol</strong> heading towards <strong>Tellamendi</strong> where we can enjoy a wonderful beech forest that is beautiful in autumn. This is the only point that requires GPS attention to avoid getting lost.<br /><br />Before starting the descent, we will pass by <strong>Besaide</strong> where a curious monument marks the point where the three Basque provinces meet.<br /><br />The descent to <strong>Arrazola</strong> is very steep and will delight downhill enthusiasts, although at a gentle pace, it is suitable for all. Enjoying the views of the Arrazola valley, we return again to <strong>Atxondo</strong>.<br /><br />This is an essential route in Bizkaia, winding through an area of spectacular landscapes and despite lacking major technical complications, has an ideal ending in any of the local restaurants.
