Runde durch das Gäu

This tour primarily takes place, except for a few meters, on well-developed bike paths from Tübingen to the western district and back. The signage is good, sometimes a bit hard to see, but always present.

From Tübingen, it first rolls up the Ammertal until just before Poltringen. There, the bike route branches off to Oberndorf. Now it gently ascends into the village. Continuing towards Hailfingen. Up and down and just before Hailfingen, turn left following the sign 'Tü-Tour' (there is no directional sign 'Seebronn' there). At the main road in Seebronn, turn right and immediately the next left. Through the village and then follow the sign towards 'Ergenzingen'. This bike path leads to Wolfenhausen. Continue following the designation Ergenzingen until just before Liebfrauenhöhe. Here, the bike path branches off left towards Eckenweiler and Bieringen. Through the village of Eckenweiler and shortly after, a rapid descent into the Neckar valley down to Bieringen. From Bieringen to Obernau is a piece of road where it can be a bit tricky due to fast drivers. From Obernau, it’s back on the bike path past Bad Niedernau to Rottenburg. Through the old town and then towards the industrial area of Siebenlinden. From here, the bike path leads directly to Hirschau. From there along the Spitzberg back to Tübingen.

This tour is well-suited for anyone looking to stay somewhat fit as there are some minor inclines, but mostly stretches for speed. However, normal cyclists can also easily manage this route and enjoy beautiful views towards the Black Forest and Swabian Alb.
