Pilgrimage route traveled in the year 990 by Sigéric, Archbishop of Canterbury, the Via Francigena connects southern England to the tomb of the Apostle Peter in Rome. The route proposed here is the one I followed, departing from Orsières (Valais, Switzerland). A mountain bike is essential to tackle the numerous unpaved sections - Italian roads are very dangerous!2nd part: Passo della Cisa - Rome (7 days)For safety reasons (traffic), take the train from La Storta to Roma Ostiense (20 km).Total distance (Orsières-Rome): 1057 kmTotal positive elevation: 10'500 mDuration: 13 days (+ possible rest)More information at www.europebybike.info
