Sauerland Tour 1

A cycling route starting in Arnsberg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Overview

About this route

The route starts from the beautiful Herdringen and goes over Holzen and Beckum into the Hönnetal. From here, it passes the Wocklum equestrian facility and the Melscheder Mill up to Melschede Castle. After a short, somewhat steeper climb, you ride on a moderately busy road until you reach the Sorpesee. Through the new promenade and Sorpedamm (on the dam, cyclists must dismount), it goes downhill until just before Stemel. Then the route turns left onto the bike path, and you follow it through the Röhrtal until just before Reigern. From here, the tour continues along the B229 until behind Müschede. There, it turns again (over a bridge) towards Herdringen. Those who do not want to ride on the B229 can continue on the bike path from Reigern. This leads away from the road through a wooded area and is also easy to ride on. The route can also be well traveled with a trekking bike. It offers many sightseeing opportunities, and the gastronomy is also not to be missed. Scenically, the route is also appealing and can be ridden in about 2.5 hours without breaks. Have fun!
