Short description: The pleasant loop around the lake from Oy-Mittelberg runs between Petersthal and Mossbach mostly close to the shore, passing beautiful swimming spots and two recreational areas, alongside cow pastures and moorland, with beautiful views of the Grünten (1738 m), the guardian of Allgäu. Difficulty: medium Starting point: Oy-Mittelberg Description: We start the lake tour in Petersthal. A forested section of the route leads us to the southern end of the lake and to its dam. A small hydroelectric power station generates electricity here for about 400 households and additionally, the Rottachsee also serves for the level regulation of the Iller and the Danube. In Moosbach, there is a swimming area, Kneipp facility, kiosk, and plenty of play opportunities. Along the way, we pass the Mariengrotte located to the left of the path. In a block of Nagelfluh rock, here lies the Mother of God of Lourdes in a niche. Almost in the middle of the shore path, we arrive at the "small swimming lake". A strip of land separates the small pond from the main lake. Along the shore, numerous beautiful photo opportunities await us, and with an occasional glance over the shoulder, the guardian of Allgäu, the Grünten (1738 m), rises behind the lake. Behind the "Silent Corner", a crossroads, we head slightly uphill again and circle around the narrow northern arm of the lake. The inconspicuous "Rotwässerle" is one of the streams that feed the Rottachsee. We pass by Reitermoos which hides the legendary Kesselsee. According to legend, Schildbürger residents are said to have sunk a bell here and marked the hiding place with a cross on the bottom of their boat. Almost effortlessly, we roll to the Vorsee at Bisseroy with kiosk, sunbeds, and swimming area, and after a few minutes, we reach the next opportunity to relax, the recreational area in Petersthal, with a playground, sports facilities, sailing harbor, swimming area, kiosk, and boat rental. Route description: Oy Mittelberg - Haag - Memersch - Burgkranzegg - Petersthal - Moosbach - Rosereute - Petersthal - Köllen - then past the Park of the Senses back to the starting point in Mittelberg Highest point: 1079 m
