Overview

About this route

Route in clockwise direction of 61,100 km in 3:38 and 4:09 hours in total. Moderate due to the distance. From the road to Colmenar we take the bike lane until we can go down to the track of the Tejada stream, upstream, climbing to Colmenar. We cross the stream several times and pass by the cemetery via a slope that is a bit steep. I do not cross Colmenar, but rather go around it to avoid wandering and going against the flow in some streets. Once I have circled the village, we take the Path of Santiago with a nice trial area and before reaching the railway line we deviate to the right until we can cross the railway on foot and take the path that goes over the Santillana canal crossing streams via two aqueducts. I pass where I found the bull and the next point to highlight is the medieval bridge, called del Batán, which crosses the Manzanares, and we continue along the colada de los Gallegos towards the Cañada Real Segoviana. At km 23.87 we divert towards Manzanares el Real, cresting a small pass that leads us down, cutting through the trail, to one of the reservoirs. We arrive at Manzanares via the cemetery. We roll a few meters on the road and divert to a parallel path that leads us to the gas station and to the Guardia Civil barracks. We continue along the path that borders the reservoir and this time there are no water pools in the streams we cross. We end up on the road, which we use for a few more meters until we take a detour to the left that leads us along a path parallel to the road until we reach the karting circuit of Soto. Then a track that passes next to the prison and ends on the road coming from the hermitage of los Remedios and Guadalix towards Colmenar, which we cross and take the path that goes down to Colmenar and we divert to the left onto the path that leads to the dehesa of Navalvillar, which we edge along and continue the track to the road that links San Agustín and Colmenar, which we cross. We continue straight, passing the entrances to the treatment plants and move along a path parallel to the Colmenar highway, next to the nursery, until we deviate to cross the AVE tracks and the Cercanías to look for trails between the fincas that lead us down, until we cross the Moraleja stream, which this time did not carry water. We pass by the donkey finca, next to the entrance to the finca of the Viñuelas castle and ascend along the paths that stick to the road that goes to Tres Cantos until we reach the car. An entertaining route, more for riding and I think that in the opposite direction it would be more difficult due to the ascent of the Tejada stream to the bike lane, which would be ultimately, the climb sticking to the dehesa of Navalvillar, the trail climb from the railway via the path of Santiago to Colmenar,...
