Serrahner Urwald im Müritz-Nationalpark

The route runs through the Serrahner part of Müritz National Park, located east of Neustrelitz and bordering the Feldberg Lakes Nature Park on the other side. On the route from Zinow to Grünow, one can experience a primal landscape with a great variety of forests, moors, and untouched lakes (including the Great Serrahn Lake) on a hilly end moraine. Here you can also encounter otters, sea eagles, and cranes. In the beech forests, management has been suspended for many decades, creating an idea of what a true primeval forest can be in our latitudes. Due to aristocratic hunting, the area was long closed off, even during the GDR, and has been under protection since 1952. Much can be learned about this at the Serrahn Forest House in the middle of the area. Zinow and Grünow are located on bus line 619 from Feldberg to Neustrelitz, from which there are good train connections to Berlin, Rostock, and Stralsund.
