From San Jose de Jachal (Argentina) to La Serena (Chile) via the Paso de Agua Negra.

The pass (Argentina-Chile border) is at 4775 meters above sea level.

"The Paso de Agua Negra has been the site of journeys and crossings since 6000 B.C. when the first hunters and gatherers – notable walkers – inhabited the high inter-Andean valleys during the summer, following the seasonal migration of vicuñas and guanacos, their main source of food. Subsequently, with the expansion of the Incan empire, long transport caravans would bring domesticated llamas along the Inca Trail. The Spanish conquest starting in the 16th century marked the beginning of horseback crossings through the Paso de Agua Negra. During the 19th century, long mule caravans carrying goods, large herds of livestock, and solitary travelers traversed this imposing landscape filled with stories."
