About this route

1

Esquel - Trevelin - FutaleufĂș via Paso FutaleufĂș - Pto Ramirez - Palena - Corcovado via Paso RĂo Encuentro - Trevelin - Esquel.

It's a bit more than 300 km, but since there are some segments that the program doesn't recognize, less are shown.

Esquel - Trevelin is paved, the rest is dirt.

Mountain route. Many climbs and descents, stones and wind. In summer during the day it's nice but at night it's very cold. From Corcovado to Trevelin, there's no water on the road.

Palena - Corcovado is the hardest stretch. Many steep climbs.

With luggage (tent, pot, bag, pad, plenty of food, etc.) it gets quite tough. We did it in 8 days.

Day 1: Esquel - Trevelin - Asphalt, very quiet.

Day 2: Trevelin - Rio Grande (Camping a few km before Paso FutaleufĂș). The road is in very bad condition. We faced a lot of wind, so we made it that far; the idea was to go all the way to FutaleufĂș.

Day 3: Rio Grande - FutaleufĂș - Some quite steep parts, but okay. One asphalt section.

Day 4: FutaleufĂș - Puerto Ramirez - In Pto. Ramirez, there is no camping. There is a very nice lodging on the left just at the intersection (it's a small village with a couple of houses).

Day 5: Pto Ramirez - Palena - The landscape begins to become drier. There is only one camping which is the yard of a house, but it's fine.

Day 6: Palena - Corcovado - Very hard stretch, very steep climbs. Landscape getting drier. In Corcovado, there is a free camping across the river before arriving, and if not, there's Refugio del Pescador in the town, very nice and cheap.

Day 7: Corcovado - Trevelin - The gentlest slopes. It's the longest stretch but the calmest. Bring a lot of water because there is no significant water course (clean).

Day 8: Trevelin - Esquel. Short stretch of asphalt. Beware of the Psychological, because when you reach Trevelin, you relax because you are almost there and you shouldn't underestimate the last stretch.

An incredible landscape, it's worth the effort.

I recommend bringing a cart to avoid overloading the bikes. My bike was very loaded and the more technical sections become complicated because the bike behaves differently or it might even break...
