R5a Wadowice - Kraków (Pychowice)

R5a Wadowice (city center) - Kraków (Pychowice)

This route runs from the center of Wadowice to Pychowice, which is located about 5 km from the Błonia and the very center of Kraków. There is a second variant starting near the Pallotines priests' house on the Kopiec.

The R5a route largely follows already designated cycling paths. Unfortunately, on most of the route, the asphalt surface is damaged, and there are also gravel/muddy sections.

1. Departure from Wadowice The route starts at the Wadowice Market Square and leads north along Krakowska Street. At a small roundabout, turn right, after 130 m turn left onto a small bridge and immediately after the bridge turn right. Ride straight, cross the national road and the railway line, then turn left following the cycling route signs. At the next junction of narrow roads, turn left (stay on the cycling trail), and after the meat plants turn right. Meanwhile, cross a overgrown railway siding twice. At the next junction, turn slightly right. In Witanowice, keep riding on the priority road, climbing steeply uphill.

2. Access to the connection with variant R5b - to Kopytówka. Pass a four-way junction and ride on the priority road for 6 km. Some descents allow for momentary speeds of 50 km/h! After six kilometers, there is a descent and junction where turn right (VERY EASY TO RIDE). Then turn left on the priority road, passing a car dealership on the right. At the next junction, turn left uphill. After 350 meters turn right onto a narrow, unobtrusive road. Then ride straight until the "Paszkówka 3 km" sign.

3. To Skawina In Paszkówka, turn left, then slightly right uphill. Approach the church and pass it on the left side. Then descend to the village of Wielkie Drogi and at the first junction turn right. After about 1 km turn left, cross the national road and the two-track railway line. Continue on the main road until reaching the renovated bridge over the Łączany - Skawina canal. Immediately after the bridge, turn right and ride straight to the nearest small bridge on the right side. Turn onto the small bridge, then ride straight, then left to Ochodza. Ride straight until the bridge over the canal, then ride almost to the roundabout on the Skawina bypass. Before the roundabout, turn left and continue straight. Cross the bridge over the Skawinka river and turn slightly left onto the asphalt road. Continue riding straight.

4. To Pychowice. For several kilometers, ride "behind the road." When you reach Tyniec and the priority road turns sharply right, take a slight left onto a subordinate street. Pass by the Benedictine monastery and the parish cemetery. Then on the descent brake sharply to calmly turn sharply right. Ride on an asphalt road until approaching the motorway. Then turn left onto a DIRT, WORN-OUT ROAD. Carefully cross the flood embankment and pass under the motorway bridge. Enter the kayak course area, then head along the embankment crown toward Kraków city center. Along the way, pass several crossings on the embankment, one of which is the shortest way to Kostre. At some point, the bike path approaches Widłakowa Street. Ride to the end of the raised bike lane, then merge into traffic on the street. Reach the intersection with Tyniecka, turn left, then right after 200 m. After a moment, you are at the end of the route; in Pychowice, by the church.

5. Further route. You can continue your journey toward the center riding along the Vistula embankment crown. However, it will be difficult to lock your bike in Dębnik and there will be thousands of pedestrian pilgrims.
