De Bergse Heide

The routes are located in the forest areas east of Bergen op Zoom and the grounds of Brabants Landschap. This area, situated in the Brabantse Wal, is a sandy plateau that stretches, in the far west of the province of North Brabant, from the Belgian border in the south to Steenbergen in the north. The area is distinguished by a great variety of landscapes. You find clay soils next to sandy soils, natural elevation differences of 20 meters, forests and heath fields, drifting dunes and polder landscapes, as well as fresh and salt water. Precisely because of the great variety of landscape types, the Brabantse Wal offers a habitat to various species of plants and animals. Nature of the route: The Boslust route is technically a simple route. The route has little elevation difference but many gentle slopes. The Bergse Heide route is intended for the more experienced mountain biker. The route goes up and down hills. Particularly in loose sand, this requires a lot of skill from the cyclist.
