R4a Alwernia - Kraków (Polana Bielańska)

The route starts under the Bernardine monastery in Alwernia. It quickly leads to the Vistula valley and already before Kamień it joins a much longer variant. According to the route planners, it is much less attractive than the R4b variant.

1. To Kamień. The route starts under the Bernardine monastery in Alwernia. We descend along Klasztorna Street and turn right onto Korycińskiego Street. On the left, we pass the fire-fighting museum, shortly after we pass the Market Square (on the right). 100 m from the Market Square, we turn right onto Gęsikowskiego Street, then slightly right onto Maria Curie-Skłodowska Street. We turn right downhill onto Kasztanowa Street, on the right we pass a school in Alwernia. After 940 m, we turn left onto Sienkiewicza Street. After 590 m, we cross straight over the intersection with DW780. After 1.5 km, we pass the exit to the Towarowa Gate of the chemical plants. After another 780 m, we turn right from a minor road. After 460 m, we turn left onto Rajska Street, which becomes Karola Wojtyły Street. After 2 km, we turn left from a minor road, then right towards Czernichów. We continue straight, following the priority road for 2.4 km until we reach the church in Kamień. Just before the church, we turn right and descend. On the right, there is the loop of line 229.

2. To Polana Bielańska. After 2.8 km, we reach Rusocice. We cross an intersection with a dedicated left-turn lane. After 690 m, we turn sharply left. We continue straight, after 4 km we pass a narrow bridge. After another 610 m, we turn right onto a road with a prohibition of motor vehicles with trailers. After 950 m, we reach a roundabout where we turn left. After 800 m, we pass straight through a four-way intersection and just after it, we turn right at a three-way intersection, passing a Bliska petrol station on the left. After 3 km, in Wołowice, we turn left. After 410 m, we turn right, passing a pond on the right. After another 550 m, we turn right again and continue straight for 1.7 km. We turn right and enter Rączna. After 860 m, we turn left onto a priority road and after 400 m, we leave it turning right. We continue straight, after 970 m we reach a 'Yield' sign. We go straight, start an ascent, and after 520 m turn right downhill. We pass the 'Joyful News' Missionary Priests' High School and descend to the intersection. We go straight towards Kraków, pass under the A4 motorway, and enter the pedestrian-bike path on the right side of the road. 110 m after entering the Vistula embankments, we turn left onto Orlą Street. After another 90 m, we turn left again onto Bielańska Street. We go uphill on Bielańska and Orlą Streets, cross straight over the intersection with Księcia Józefa Street. After another 500 m, we turn right towards the buildings of the Agricultural University. After 300 m, a dirt road leading to Polana Bielańska begins. After 700 m, we reach the clearing.

3. Further riding. Currently, no large bike parking is planned at the clearing; one can continue (or walk) through the Wolski Forest, but near Kopiec no bike parking is planned either. Before entering Bielany (just after passing A4), one can descend to the Vistula embankments and reach the area of the Zwierzyniecki Bridge. No bike parking is planned there either. Regardless of the destination, we recommend familiarizing yourself with the Daroplan.
