Elba 7 Ost

A colorful tour through the former iron ore mining areas in the east of the island awaits us today. We have to cross the island through busy traffic until Porto Azzuro, after which we have Elba all to ourselves. The first climb is up to Rio nell' Elba with its beautiful colorful houses, followed by a descent back down to Rio Marina. There, the first break by the sea. The terrain is rolling and increasingly spectacular as we follow the coast to the northern tip, which we reach in Cavo. Picnic there. A long but moderate afternoon climb back to Rio, where we now visit the pretty town center. Afterwards, the 200 meters ascent to the Volterraio Pass challenges us, offering dreamy views over the bay of Portoferraio. The rest is just a pleasurable descent down to the gates of our hotel.
