1. Sunds Sø: Sunds Sø is Denmark's largest heather lake, totaling 127 ha. About 7 km north of Herning, Midtjylland, you can find the lake surrounded by beautiful nature and summer houses. You can either take a dip, sit and enjoy the peace, or walk the path that stretches all the way around the lake - a lovely route of 5.5 km. There are also plenty of opportunities to fish in the lake, making it a popular spot for anglers.

 

2. Løvbakkerne Nature Center and Løvbakke Forest is an attractive natural area north of Herning in Gullestrup. In Løvbakkerne, you will find: outdoor facilities, a wooden house, a nature room, and exhibitions: Secrets of the Forest, at Løvbakke Nature Center.

Løvbakke Forest is the result of a reforestation project. It consists of Løvbakke Plantation, which is owned by Herning Municipality, as well as several newly planted agricultural areas, which are owned by the Forest and Nature Agency in the Feldborg State Forest District. A 1.9 km long paved nature path, suitable for the disabled, was inaugurated in May 2011. Here you can use scooters, roller skates, roller skis, walkers, wheelchairs, or tricycles. With the bike, you can also go on safari. In Løvbakke Dyrehave, where up to 50 fallow deer roam freely. The animals arrived in the autumn of 2013. Most of the animals came from the Dyrehave in Silkeborg, which was closed in connection with the new highway connection between Silkeborg and Herning.

 

3. Blicher Museum - Herningsholm: Its short film tells the story of the oldest blasphemous building in Midtjylland and one of Hernings significant historical monuments. The exhibition includes original furnishings that have recently been acquired by the Herning Museum.

Herning Municipality is characterized by an artistic joy. The region's economic development created opportunities to acquire art. The artists themselves also came, drawn from the vast heath landscapes and unspoiled nature. Where everyday life can be experienced at Herning Museum, you can see the heath painters and writers in the Blicher Museum in the Herningsholm manor. The artists contributed to our present opinions of the heath, which were established with the eyes of the artists. Here you find landscape paintings that depict the today vanished central Jutland heath landscape, as well as a number of objects such as original manuscripts of HC Andersen and St. St. Blicher, which address in their content the region's distinctive spirit and culture.
