Lungo il Sile, via privilegiata dei commerci tra Venezia e Treviso, navigavano un tempo<br />numerosi burci. Non sempre la forza della corrente o del vento erano sufficienti a muovere le<br />pesanti imbarcazioni. Intervenivano allora i cavalanti che con l’aiuto di cavalli o buoi trainavano<br />da terra le barche percorrendo le vie alzaie, che prendono il nome dalla fune, l’alzana appunto<br />(chiamata in gergo “resta” da cui la denominazione di “restera” nel gergo popolare il “lungo<br />Sile”), utilizzata per tale scopo.
