Das Allgäu ist dank seiner Höhenlage und Nähe zu den Alpen besonders niederschlagsreich. Deswegen sind die Wiesen und Weiden im Voralpenland saftig und beste Futtergrundlage für das Allgäuer Braunvieh. Die Milch der Kühe wird auf kurzem Wege in den Sennereien verarbeitet. Einblick in die Arbeitsprozesse geben die Käsküche Isny und Sennereien der Gebr. Baldauf GmbH & Co. KG in Grünenbach und Gestratz. Im Käseladen vor Ort lassen sich Köstlichkeiten aus Milch verköstigen und kaufen. Und soll es etwas herzhafter sein, bieten zahlreiche Gasthöfe am Weg sich zur Einkehr an.
