Hohe Geba (Heimweg)

A bit of a different route – descending from Neidhardskopf to Bettenhausen – very steep – then climbing to the transmitter on the other side and then very steeply descending towards Stedtlingen again – there are challenging sections everywhere, not just on the main routes – the climb from Haselbach to Schießbuche was moderate – towards the quarry there were a few mild ascents – descending through Weißbachtal valley to Stillhof feels like being far away from civilization – in the gorge you see nothing of the outside world – in Untermaßfeld I completely left the bike path – at the station I climbed to the edge of the forest and continued on to Grimmenthal – from such 'halfway' height the Werra valley looks quite different – unfortunately just before Ellingshausen I had to find out that the path was overgrown – I had to climb uphill – but the other path downhill ended at a pasture, luckily it was open – combined with the outbound trip I covered 81.5 km and 1,720 meters of elevation – the riding time was 6:28 hours – that's a lot, but since you couldn't even go fast downhill, you have to live with it – getting up the climbs is the challenge – anyone who wants to be fast has to ride a road bike or stay on the bike path!
