Vrijdag: Rondje richting Italië

We are so close to various national borders in this area that we certainly have to take a good close look at them. So today we head down towards Italy. You will notice it in the surroundings, the nature, and the houses.

The route literally starts with a descent; we avoid the main road but cannot avoid some villages. Chur is pleasant and atmospheric to ride through. It's not large, so before we know it, we are riding more and more into the mountains on quiet roads.

The first climb has gradients between 3 and 8%. It all goes smoothly on the beautiful asphalt and wide (flatter) curves. It remains surprising how quickly we gain altitude with the accompanying views. Awesome!

After 10 km of climbing, you will naturally look for a lighter gear (a 28-tooth sprocket is definitely recommended to keep pedaling lightly!). For 3 km, the gradient does not drop below 10%. When this is almost enough, you are treated to a descent. It is delightful, wide, and clear. We enjoy the nature, seek out small roads, ride past a beautiful lake, and very carefully, the Italian atmosphere begins to seep in to you.

Towards Davos, the climb is pleasantly 'false flat'. Via small cycle paths, we continue our way to the hostel, and you can be proud of yourself!
