Igis - Rundtour Churer Rheintal und Bündner Herrschaft

Whoever starts the tour in Chur should get on their bike before eleven. With normal weather conditions, you can ride with a tailwind until lunchtime. Along the Rhine, it's quite noticeable.

We start in Igis and pass by the Marschlins Castle. At Ganda, you go through the underpass and cross the Landquart (river). Afterwards, you're already in the Bündner Herrschaft.

We continue over the railroad tracks and past vineyards into the wine village of Malans. After the village center, we follow the road uphill towards Jenins. This pretty wine village is the ideal spot for a break and offers several good places along the route.

Next, we head to Maienfeld, where a visit to the majestic Brandis Castle with a beautiful garden terrace is worthwhile. The town center is also very worth seeing. On the way to Fläsch, the vineyards dominate the landscape.

The village of Fläsch, awarded the Wakkerprijs for its intact village appearance, is not only the northernmost municipality of the Bündner Herrschaft, but also of the canton of Graubünden. Now we cross the Rhine and are already on St. Gallen ground.

We pass the spa town of Bad Ragaz and follow the Rhine to Landquart - Untervaz - Haldenstein to Chur.

From Chur train station, the route leads past the Chur hospitals to the Fürstenwald. Afterwards, we ride over Trimmis to Zizers.

Zizers is a beautifully located wine-growing village in the Chur Rhine Valley. It sits on a fertile alluvial cone between the Chessirüfe to the south and the Schlundrüfe to the north. On the gentle slope, the vines have thrived for centuries, producing delicious Zizers wine. From there, we ride a short distance to the village of Igis.
