Den Jakobus - Heide - Pilgerweg

The pilgrimage trail called to me and I answered that call. Two years ago I cycled the trail from the estate all the way to Cologne; this time I wanted to head north. On Tuesday at 6 a.m., I set off. First still in more familiar areas: Fallingbostel and Solltau. The navigation was not so easy and I got lost several times. Beyond Soltau I found a hut by a lake and made myself comfortable. In the evening, I prepared tagliatelle with salmon and spinach on my stove, very tasty, and in the company of two cranes, nothing could go wrong. The next day I passed through the still not blooming Lüneburg Heath, so it was pleasantly empty and peaceful. I had to cross the highest elevation in northern Germany, but then enjoyed a great view all the way to Hamburg. When I finally reached civilization, I was glad and watched Portugal - Wales in a pub. On the third day I struggled with the pilgrimage trail intersections and took some time to find my route again. Toward evening I reached the outskirts of Hamburg and found a place to stay overnight in a forest kindergarten, and watched Germany - France at a quaint Italian restaurant — a pity, no happy ending. On the last day I went through Hamburg — almost entirely through greenery. Unfortunately, the weather turned very bad, so I took a train at 3:15 a.m. back to Wiedenhausen. But I plan to continue the trail further.
